At the heart of the Evie Whipps DIPG Foundation lies a story of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Founded in honor of our beloved daughter, Evie, who bravely battled DIPG brain cancer, our foundation is a beacon of hope for families facing similar challenges.
Evie’s journey with DIPG began in February 2023 when she was diagnosed with this devastating disease. Despite being told there were no treatments and no hope for survival, Evie fought with remarkable strength and courage. She defied the odds for 11 months, touching the lives of all who knew her with her unwavering spirit and infectious smile. On January 22nd, 2024, Evie gained her angel wings, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that continues to inspire us every day.
Understanding DIPG
What is Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG)?
DIPG, or diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, is a type of brain tumor found in an area of the brainstem known as the pons. It infiltrates the brainstems vital functions and switches them off one by one, until the person has lost their ability to see, hear, swallow, walk, talk and more.
